About Wimborne Minster

Wimborne Minster is a charming, and beautifully preserved historic town situated on the banks of the rivers Stour and Allen in East Dorset. Dating back to pre-Roman times, the town is home to the Minster Church and has some of the best collections of historic buildings in Dorset.

A regular winner in the regional and national ‘In Bloom’ awards, Wimborne Minster’s pretty streets and courtyards are filled with the scent and colour of flowers in summer. The Town also has a popular central recreation ground, Redcotts, which contains a children’s play park, tennis courts, a bowls club and skate ramp.

The Town has an array of independent shops, old inns, and cafes as well as the Tivoli Theatre and Tourist Information Centre. Other local attractions include the Museum of East Dorset (formerly the Priest’s House Museum) and Wimborne Model Town.

Wimborne Minster also hosts an amazing range of events throughout the year, from quality music, arts and food festivals to open gardens, farmers markets, vehicle displays, guided walks and even a wonderful winter carnival.

Wimborne Minster Town Council works at the heart of this thriving community. This site provides all sorts of information whether you are a local resident or a visitor to the town, including the latest news, local services, Town Council business and lots more.

Welcome to our Town!
