A great Civic Day on Wednesday – when 45 mayors descend on Wimborne for the day. They had a good time: town trail round the streets; presentations about the Town Council and the BID; moving theatre piece by Millstream (the disabled acting company); guided tour of the Museum; Jubilate choir sang to the Mayors in the Minster; tour of the Chained Library and Minster – phew! The Mayors were very appreciative and many thought it was one of the best Civic Days they had experienced this year. On Thursday, we went to Ferndown for their Civic Day – interesting visit to a company using apprentices; superb lunch at Haskins. Friday was a fund-raiser – an Indonesian Meal at A Taste of Sayang on Mill Lane. The 35 who attended had a great time – wonderful meal; great service; successful raffle. We raised around £300 for the Mayor’s Charities.

I’m lucky to sing in a choir called Jubilate and last Saturday we sang at St Giles House, a sumptuous pile owned by the Earl of Shaftesbury -, great experience! Tuesday was the annual parishioners’ meeting at the Allendale Centre – around 50 attended: the Town Council presented their annual report; groups who had benefitted from grants spoke briefly; questions were posed and answered. There was a positive feel to the meeting – held on our 47th wedding anniversary! Saturday included opening the Model Town and Gardens for the season. Vikki Slade MP opened the Model Town and I opened the Model of the Model Town (!) and the Hanham building. It was a pleasant occasion and I thought how lucky we are in Wimborne : Model Town; The Minster; The Museum; I could keep going….
