Cllr David Trim

First elected August 2024.

I have lived in Dorset for the past 32 years and moved to Wimborne Minster 5 years ago with my wife and two boys. I have always felt a deep connection to the town, especially after getting married to my wife in 2010 at The Minster.  My boys have thrived since moving here and attend the local schools in Wimborne Minster and they are both involved in various sports clubs and activities.

In the past I worked at a private boarding school, helping and teaching children with autism, enabling them in their everyday lives in learning new skills and helping them prepare for independence. This was a challenging role that required patience, understanding and the ability to persevere, so that the children grew and flourished.

I now work for the rail industry and have done for the last 18 years. I have been a train driver for the last 7 years, my role requires me to have great communication and listening skills, to be able to work under pressure, to be organised, flexible and get tasks done in a timely manner.

As a councillor, I am really looking forward to working for the people of Wimborne Minster. I want to be part of working alongside local businesses, giving support where I can. I would like to help organise events that bring the community and visitors together, while protecting the towns heritage, character, and very importantly help keep Wimborne Minster a safe place to live, work and bring our families up.
