Cllr Chris Ryan
First elected August 2024.
Born in London in 1955, my parents moved to Wimborne Minster in1960. Educated at Canford School I then went on to Leicester University. I moved to London in 1979 and lived 1988 to 2022 in Brentford.
From 1979 to 2015 I worked as a teacher of History and Politics in various schools in the Watford area.
Since retiring, I volunteered as a student mentor in schools in London and at the Kew Bridge Museum of Water and Steam as a museum guide and demonstrator of working steam engines.
I married Bridget in 1987, and we have two children Felicity and Lucy. I returned to live in Wimborne Minster in 2022.
My interests are varied, I have been a keen motorcyclist since 1971, and I am interested in all things mechanical. I particularly love boats.
Both my parents lived in Wimborne Minster until they died, and both were very involved in local politics and other charities. I have always regarded Wimborne Minster as “home.” Since returning to Wimborne Minster, we have been keen to be involved in the community. For many years, the previous owner of our house opened his garden under the NGS and Wimborne in Bloom and we have continued this tradition.
