Cllr Will Chakawhata

First elected May 2024.

I have enjoyed a 25-year NHS career and leveraged my expertise as a mental health nurse to become a leader in strategic and governance roles.

After working in Pembrokeshire and Dorset in the early 2000s, I held senior positions in primary care trusts, strategic health authorities, NHS England, and mental health trusts. As Head of Service and Associate Director, I provided strategic direction and leadership and managed finances and colleagues.

 

My passion for public service extends beyond healthcare. I served as a Magistrate for over 12 years and held leadership roles promoting equality and public safety. Notably, I chaired the Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Council equality commission during the pandemic and served as an independent scrutiny chair for the Dorset Police and Crime Commissioner.

Currently, I enjoy a diverse portfolio and work as Head of Patient Safety at a mental health trust in Bath, ensuring the well-being of patients and staff.
