Wimborne Minster was aglow with the illumination of the Christmas Lights on Saturday 25 November at 4.30pm. The event was organised by Wimborne Minster Town Council and aims to bring people together of all ages and backgrounds, fostering a sense of community in the town. It provides an opportunity for people to come together and enjoy the start of the festive season.

Slick Events Ltd were responsible for bringing the event together in the form of the delivery of a stage with a PA system and lighting up the Christmas tree and parts of the town. An action-packed entertainment programme started proceedings at 1pm featuring local marching band, choirs, and dance groups. The Christmas poster competition winners Leiarna and Iris were presented with their prizes. The Rector of Wimborne Minster gave a blessing, and the Minster Choir sang Christmas Carols. The lights were switched on by (Arlo, Pearl, Jude, River & Willow (children who attend Green Cottage Riding for the Disabled) which is one of the Town Mayor’s nominated charities.

The event was concluded by the traditional discharging of muskets on the Minster Green by the Wimborne Militia.
