WE ARE RECRUITING
Wessex Water will be starting work to upgrade the water recycling centre (WRC) at Wimborne, off Brook Road, starting in June 2023.
This project will see new treatment processes introduced to improve the quality of final effluent and additional storm storage to help prevent the sewer system from becoming overwhelmed and overflowing to the environment in the case of a storm
Overflows are designed as a relief valve to protect homes from flooding. If there is too much rainfall in the system, the overflow automatically discharges into watercourses.
The project will ensure that Wessex Water continues to comply with standards identified by the Environment Agency and further improve the health of rivers, as the frequency of the automatic operation of storm overflows is reduced.
Work will start on Monday 12 June 2023 and continue for around 12 months, scheduled to finish at the end of May 2024.
How will the work affect you? The site is located off Brook Road and all work will take place within our existing site. The water recycling centre may be more visible during construction and you may notice some increased traffic on the access road to the water recycling centre at times.
What should you do? You don’t need to do anything. You can continue to use your sewerage services as normal unless we tell you otherwise.
Anything else you need to know? We’re sorry for any inconvenience caused by our work. For security reasons, we will install an alarm system at our construction compound. If the alarm goes off when the site is unoccupied, or if you have any further questions about our work, please call 0345 600 4 600 or visit wessexwater.co.uk/contact-us
This scheme is part of Wessex Water’s £3 million a month investment to reduce how often storm overflows operate. You can read more about the work we’re carrying out to protect the environment at wessexwater.co.uk/overflows
Need some extra support? We know that some customers need extra help due to age, ill health, a disability, mental illness or additional needs. This may include easy access to water during a leak or outage, help reading your meter, or setting up a password for when we visit. You can register for Priority Services on our website at wessexwater.co.uk/priorityservices or call us on the number below.
If you are a business or other non-household property you will need to contact your water retailer with any enquiries. You can find their contact details on your most recent water bill.
Yours faithfully
Kirstie Hearn (Wessex Water)
