The new Town Mayor for Wimborne Minster Town Council for the Civic Year 9 May 2023 to 14 May 2024 is Councillor Diann March.
Diann moved to Dorset with her husband in 1976, was first elected as a Wimborne Minster Town Councillor in 1991 and has previously served three terms as Town Mayor and three terms as Deputy Mayor. Diann has many interests including Wimborne Musical Theatre, the Wimborne/Ochsenfurt and Wimborne/Valognes Twinning Associations. Diann also volunteers at Green Cottage Riding for the Disabled, the Wimborne Repair Cafe and is a volunteer at the Allendale Community Centre.
During the year Diann will be raising money for two charities: –
- Wimborne Model Town
Wimborne Model Town is a 1/10th scale of the centre of Wimborne as it was in the 1950s. The attraction opened in 1952 and last year they celebrated their 70th Anniversary and are proud to be a community charity mainly staffed by volunteers.

2. Riding for the Disabled Association
Riding for the Disabled Association (RDA) benefit the lives of over 17,000 disabled children and adults and provides various activities like riding, carriage driving, therapy, and fitness skills supported by 13,000 volunteers and qualified coaches at nearly 500 RDA centres all over the UK. RDA is an inclusive and diverse organisation and welcomes people with physical and learning disabilities and autism.

The new Deputy Mayor for Wimborne Minster Town Council for the Civic Year 9 May 2023 to 14 May 2024 is Councillor Simon Wheeler. Simon lives in Corfe Mullen and runs Wimborne’s Town Band “The Quarterjacks”, following in the footsteps of his Great Grandfather.
Wimborne Minster Town Council’s Mayor Making event took place on 9 May 2023 at the Town Hall.
The outgoing Town Mayor, Councillor Carol Butter, was escorted into the Town Hall by members of Wimborne Militia and the Town Crier / Mayors Serjant Mr Chris Brown (image courtesy of Beatrice Dopita).
